For many years Pan American World Airways provided exclusive airport membership lounges around the world known as The Clipper Club. At first membership was by invitation-only, based on a potential customer’s international travel. In later years membership was opened up to the public for a $1,000 fee. The Clipper Clubs offered customers comfortable seating and drink service away from the boarding gates.
